A FUSION OF MASSAI BEADWORK AND ECODESIGN IN A HOTEL LOBBY FOR BIRD AWARENESS

                                                ABSTRACT
The main intention for the research is to spread bird awareness to the visitors and the residents who practice deforestation, incorporation of culture to the modern inspired lobby and practice of sustainable ways of living in the hotel. The main objective of the research is to investigate different strategies that can showcase culture in the exteriors and interiors of the hotel La Mada and to practice on ecofriendly ways by creating pieces of art that spread bird awareness by form.
Bird awareness will be created through form displayed on the furniture and the exhibition unit found in the lobby. The other investigation involves sustainability through Eco design which will involve extensive research on sisal and metal for sustainable indoor and outdoor furnishings. Massai beadwork will be used to express culture in the interiors. The different colors of the beads will help in the creation of different meanings and uniqueness in the interiors of the lobby.
Chapter one covers the introduction to the problem, its background and the problem statement. The objectives of the study and the research questions are clearly outlined. The researcher then goes ahead and explains why the study is significant and justifies it.
Chapter two describes the existing literature on eco design, massai beadwork and design for awareness incorporated in the furniture, exhibition unit, landscape and interior architecture. Examples and case studies on relevant designs and the designers are further explored.
Chapter three discusses the research design, population and sample and various methods of data collection and presentation, while stating the reasons why they.
Chapter four illustrates the findings according to the researcher.
Chapter five covers the summary, conclusions and recommendations.
