UPCYCLING MAASAI ARTIFACTS AND APPLYING CULTURE THEME TO CREATE AN AESTHETIC SPACE AT PANARI RESORT NYAHURURU

Interior designers and interior space users need to gain a comprehensive understanding of ecofriendly interior finishes and products. Having such knowledge will enable them to have a more powerful repository of evidence-based design solutions.
This study will be a significant endeavor in promoting good management of glass wastes through recycling of glass with an aim of preserving the environment. It will also promote more wildlife themes and the savanna feel in the space through the use of zebra design. In this study, a descriptive qualitative approach was used. Most of the information was collected through structured questionnaires both open and closed ended questionnaires and face to face interviews. Data analysis was undertaken using descriptive methods including narrative. Tables, pie charts and photographs were presented to support some of the issues that are unearthed.
The research findings show that although there are vast opportunities for use of waste glass in interior spaces such as interior finish material; there exist various barriers that hinder exploitation of those opportunities such as cost of implementation and lack of enough time to source for and use waste glass in interior spaces.
This Project Paper is divided into five chapters. Chapter one covers the background to the study, research objectives and questions, the significance of study and the scope. Chapter two critically reviewed existing literature in line with the objectives of the study. The methodology applied in the study is discussed in chapter three. Data analysis and presentation is provided in chapter four. Finally, chapter five summarized the findings, the conclusions and gives recommendations arising from the study.
