SUSTAINABILITY DESIGN CHALLENGE
StAD students are are among contestants in the Sustainability Design Challenge.
The competition is a co-operation between Kenya Airways and design institution offering training in
clothing construction, fashion, textile and interior design courses and dedicated to the development and application of creative ideas.
The challenge is engaging four teams of five members nominated fashion,
design and marketing students to redesign (develop innovative products) from materials ranging from
work jackets, work trousers for both men and ladies, old blankets, old cabin crew uniforms
and obsolete uniforms using historical and cultural practice for sustainability.
The contestants are tasked with presenting their project to a panel of reputable fashion designers judges for progressive review.
The winning product shall be showcased through a fashion show or display.
The program also aims at establishing various collaborative initiatives for the growth and mutual benefit of the design institutions participating in the challenge by enhancing professional skills of the nominated students.
