GUEST SPEAKER- GRAHAM YOUNG- UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA
Graham is a Landscape architect and a senior Lecturer at the University of Pretoria -South Africa. He has a distinguished international record as a studio critic in Landscape Architecture and has been recognized for a number of awards internationaly. Young is currently serving as the Secretariate General of International Federation of Landscape Architecture- Africa an association of (IFLA).
With value for collaborations, Graham shared his journey through the industry with the Interior Design students at the school while challenging them to take a lead role of the designer in the 21st century of co-creating a better future for the environments and societies.
He also acknowledged the importance to honour the diverse legacies that have shaped the present.
The speaker also addressed the students on ecological design, landscape urbanism, and visual impact assessment which are his research interest areas.
University of Pretoria- Architecture department values a practical community engagement, a solid grounding in the practicalities of environmentally responsible design and an understanding of the nested systems within which designers operate.
