Ms. Cecilia Wandiga Visits StAD

On 17th December 2019, the School received Ms. Cecilia Wandiga, who is a Trustee Board member for Centre for Science and Technology Innovations (CSTI) and also an Assistant Lecturer & Sustainability Coordinator at the UoN African Women Studies Centre. CSTI is a UNESCO Associated Centre registered under the Kenya National Academy of Sciences).

The meeting discussed possible opportunities for collaboration with the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (ICCA), various industry players and colleges with interests in Kenya. This includes:

Increased presence of StAD in the international space by packaging and branding the work into a good storyline/ narrative that stakeholders can plug into. E.g in the USA and France.

Collaboration with 14 Trees (LafargeHolcim Group/ CDC UK) on building technologies and innovations. To this end, the School sees a possibility of having a workshop for interior designers.

Ms. Wandiga has interests in cultural heritage and we agreed that our MA and staff shall embark on research on local languages and heritage.

Design thinking was another area discussed extensively and the school will undertake to engage in applied design thinking training as a way to grow youth into global leaders.

With these pointers, the staff agreed to bring the ideas discussed to fruition and will continue with the engagement.
