THE USE OF VECTOR AND RASTER SOFTWARE FOR DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION IN THE DESIGN INDUSTRY

Carl Lewis Ayieko(Industry based Illustrator) critiques the students work and gave them pointers on how to improve.

The design industry has gone digital. Ensure that you are aware of the relevant software on the market, both paid for and the free. Learn 3D software such as Blender too. It will serve you very well. You can only be taught a limited amount in class due to time constraints. You need to read, research and practise learning the remaining portion, growing exponentially in your own time.

Use image references to improve your drawing and rendering skills both analogue and digital. Learn to draw from reference, but also draw from your creative mind.

In the industry, people do not care how good you are, they simply want the job done. So, learn how to plan your work flow, consult widely and do not take negative critique badly.

Always keep in mind that Designers need to be able to communicate, market, and sell well.

The class ended with a design software clinic where Carl Lewis Ayieko critiqued the students work and gave them pointers on how to improve.
