Field trip to the African Heritage

On February 2nd 2024,  the 4th year and 2nd year Design students went on a field excursion to the African Heritage House in Mlolongo.

The visits objective was for the students to familiarize with African Art, Craft and Design of the objects on display. The students were guided through a detailed tour of the exhibits with the rich history of the objects explained by the African Heritage guides. The tour ended with an interactive session with the guide where questions and answers were dealt with in-depth.

The African Heritage House, a gazetted national monument overlooking the Nairobi National Park, was designed by American Alan Donovan, co-founder of the African Heritage Pan African Galleries. It's interior and exterior design is a combination of the mud architectures from across Africa. The house has African art and furnishings from various parts of the African continent.
