According to an Article written on the 14 September 2022 in the Africa Renewal by Raphael Obonyo,it is revealed that approximately 10-12 million young Africans are released unto the job market annually. Unfortunately, there are only about 3 million formal jobs waiting for them. According to the African Development Bank (AFDB), this deteriorated further due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Join us at a workshop titled "Design Methodologies of job creation in Afrika" held by the Department of Art and Design, nestled within the Faculty of the Built Environment  at the University of Nairobi.

The DVC, Administration and Finance visited the Department of Art and Design to see how the registration of the freshers was progressing. While he was with us, he congratulated our latest PhD graduate Dr. Joyce Akach and bade farewell to Assistant Professor Collins Makunda. Collins proceeds to Northumbria University in the United Kingdom, where he is now a Faculty member at the School of Design.

Congratulations to our latest Doctorate Graduand, Joyce Akach. Joyce worked long hard hours to write her PhD Thesis titled "Co-designing for Sustainable Community- Based Tourism  Enterprises in Homabay County" we, at the Department of Art and Design are proud of you.
